About Dan.

Hi, I’m Dan Macdonald (he/him), a Clinical Psychologist based in Sydney. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, offering therapy and psychological assessments in private practice.

I support people across a range of concerns, including anxiety, OCD, trauma, identity exploration, relationship difficulties, and neurodivergence. My work is informed by evidence‑based practice and a strong respect for each person’s lived experience.

I have a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals and couples. I’m committed to providing care that is inclusive, thoughtful, and tailored to the needs of each person or relationship. My style is collaborative and grounded, with a focus on clarity, trust, and meaningful progress.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, reading, and playing outside with my dog, Benjamin. I value spaces that feel calm, thoughtful, and connected, and I try to bring those same qualities into my clinical work.

Who We Are.

Lavender Psychology opened in June 2025 in response to the growing need for mental health care that is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in compassion. As a proudly LGBTQIA+ owned practice, we offer a safe and respectful space for people of all identities and neurotypes to feel seen, heard, and supported. While we have a particular commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities, we warmly welcome everyone

We believe mental health care should be inclusive, grounded in safety, and honour each person’s lived experience.

At Lavender Psychology, you are welcome just as you are.

The Heart of Our Practice.

A happy, curly-haired light-colored dog lying on a dark gray couch.

Meet Benjamin, our beloved “Office Manager” and resident heart‑stealer at Lavender Psychology. He’s a Mini Groodle with no formal training, questionable admin skills, and a firm belief that most problems can be solved with a cuddle. While he doesn’t work on site, his presence captures the warmth and care we aim to bring to every session.

Benjamin reminds us that therapy works best in spaces that feel calm, human, and welcoming.

Lavender.

At Lavender Psychology, our name is more than just a colour, it represents our values and the kind of space we want to create.

Lavender has a rich history in LGBTQIA+ identity. Once used as a symbol of queer identity, it now represents resilience, authenticity, and visibility. It’s also known for its calming and grounding qualities, often sought by neurodivergent individuals for sensory comfort.

Just as lavender thrives in different environments, we believe in creating a space where you can grow, heal, and be your true self.
